Why your role matters

The Senior Administrative Officer provides high-level administrative and operational support to ensure the effective functioning of the Nura Gili academic team. The role contributes to strategic initiatives continuous improvement activities and the delivery of high-quality services to students and staff including supporting the implementation and evaluation of learning teaching and assessment programs for coursework students.

Working closely with the Academic Lead Indigenous Studies and Course Convenors the position supports the design and development of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research programs. The role is responsible for coordinating core administrative functions and managing operational matters such as financial processes people and resource administration and compliance with University policies and procedures.

Supporting senior academic leadership requires highly developed stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted and effective relationships across a range of stakeholders and management levels. The position reports to the Academic Lead supports the Director of Nura Gili and has no direct reports

Specific accountabilities include:

  • Contribute to a positive and dynamic Nura Gili community informed by culturally affirming values experiences and shared aspirations by communicating and collaborating effectively.
  • Provide integrated program-level administrative support to Nura Gilis teaching and research teams including supporting the planning development implementation review and documentation of programs to deliver an efficient support service.
  • Developimplementand maintainsystems and procedures to ensure a consistent approach foroperations andadministration.
  • Work collaboratively with teams including Nura Gili and faculty academic and professional staff to support the delivery implementation and evaluation of learning teaching and assessment programs including document and records management to ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated ability to create positive vibrant and respectful relationships.
  • A lived understanding of the opportunities and challenges relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Highly advanced interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels.
  • Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to plan organise and co-ordinate projectsand tasks.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSWs aims objectives and values in action together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.

This role requires the successful candidate to hold a valid paid Working with Childrens Check.
