About the Role
Exciting Opportunity: Lab Analyst (Microbiology & Molecular Biology)
Are you a detail-oriented scientist with a passion for microbiology and molecular biology Were seeking a Lab Analyst with experience in microbiology and molecular biology to support routine microbial testing of cannabis and related products. This role involves hands-on laboratory work using plating-based methods and qPCR assays in a regulated fast-paced environment. The position reports to the Lab Manager.
What Youll Be Doing
As a Lab Analyst your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing samples media reagents calibration standards and Quality Control materials
- Performing microbial testing using plating methods and qPCR assays
- Detecting and enumerating bacteria and fungi
- Interpreting results and ensuring data accuracy and integrity
- Recording results and maintain documentation in LIMS
- Maintaining Quality Control records and supporting data reviews
- Following SOPs safety policies and quality system requirements
- Assisting with method validation verification and audits
- Supporting ISO 17025:2017 accreditation and proficiency testing
- Performing routine equipment operation and maintenance
- Meeting turnaround times and communicating issues to the Lab Manager
What Were Looking For
- BSc in Biological Sciences Microbiology Molecular Biology or related field
- 13 years of experience in microbiological testing
- Hands-on experience with plating-based methods and qPCR assays
- Familiarity with cannabis-related microorganisms is an asset
- Knowledge of QA/QC ISO 17025:2017 and GLP preferred
