Mortgage Retail Sales Assistant

The Mortgage Retail Sales Assistant works closely with Mortgage Loan Originators to ensure borrowers financial data and creditworthiness meet program guidelines. This position calculates income for all types of income including self-employed borrowers. The Mortgage Retail Sales Assistant helps maintain strong relationships with real estate partners and supports initiatives that expand referral networks and promote the banks mortgage services.

This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). The NMLS web site provides the MU4R questions and registration required for employment in this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Analyze financial data to determine creditworthiness.
2. Maintain knowledge of available loan products processing procedures and underwriting guidelines.
3. Review borrower applications.
4. Utilize communication and access of daily rates credit reports and DU responses and transmitting to processor.
5. Collect appropriate documentation from each applicant and deliver loan package to processor in a timely manner.
6. Maintain high levels of customer service while managing each applicants and support staffs expectations.
7. Attend and participate in all lending meetings as required.
8. Provide guidance and assistance to new Mortgage Loan Assistants.
9. Maintain an NMLS registration throughout employment as a Mortgage Sales Assistant.
10. Collaborate with the Mortgage Loan Originator to build relationships expand referral networks and enhance community connections.
11. Assist in preparing for and occasionally participating in homebuyer seminars and community events to promote the banks mortgage services.
12. Maintain strong collaborative relationships with real estate agents to support ongoing referral and partnership opportunities.
13. Support social media management content creation and email marketing initiatives to promote the banks services.
14. Partner with the marketing team on campaigns designed to attract potential buyers and sellers and convert them into qualified mortgage leads.
15. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
16. Complete BSA/AML training and other compliance training as necessary.
17. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting marketing business administration finance etc. Equivalent to a four year college degree. 5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read analyze and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions ratios and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral or diagram formats.
