SUMMARY:
The Department of Health and Human Performance at East Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time Clinical Instructor in Nutrition to serve as the Program Director for the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD). This position is a 9-month instructional appointment with dedicated workload time allocated to DPD program management in accordance with ACEND accreditation standards. The ideal candidate will be a Registered Dietitian with experience in teaching curriculum development student advising and program administration.
The Clinical Instructor will primarily support undergraduate instruction in nutrition and dietetics oversee all DPD accreditation and administrative functions and contribute to service activities within the department and university. This is a teaching-focused role with no research or scholarship requirements. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching:
Teach undergraduate courses in nutrition dietetics and related areas (typical teaching load: 912 contact hours per semester).
Develop update and deliver high-quality evidence-based coursework aligned with ACEND standards.
Advise and mentor nutrition and dietetics students academically and professionally.
Support student success through accessible office hours timely feedback and individualized support.
Contribute to curriculum improvements and program development efforts in Nutrition and Public Health.
Participate in departmental college and university service.
DPD Program Director:
Coordinate all aspects of the DPD including admissions progression retention and completion.
Maintain compliance with all ACEND accreditation standards.
Oversee annual updates of the DPD Student Handbook.
Develop and implement program policies and procedures.
Manage student records including verification statements.
Address and document student concerns grievances and program complaints.
Lead recruitment activities and chair the Nutrition Program Committee.
Monitor and assess student learning outcomes and implement ongoing program improvement processes.
Communicate regularly with faculty administrators preceptors and other stakeholders involved in program delivery.
Ensure timely submission of accreditation reports fees curriculum updates assessment data and all required documentation.
Coordinate the DPD budget in collaboration with the Department Chair.
Maintain RD/LD credentials and participate in professional development to stay current in the field.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Masters degree in Nutrition Dietetics or a closely related discipline.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Minimum of three years of post-credentialing professional experience as an RD. Experience in teaching advising and/or mentoring students in dietetics or nutrition. Experience with curriculum development or program administration in higher education. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to: Ability to work effectively with students faculty and staff.
Licensing/Professional Certifications: Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) and eligible for Texas licensure (LD).
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience as a DPD Director DPD faculty member or ACEND-accredited program instructor.
Experience supervising students in applied clinical or community-based settings.
Experience in student recruitment or program promotion.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary department.
Familiarity with online learning technologies and instructional platforms preferred.
