What youll do:

As the Manager Procurement Solar and BESS - Americas you will be responsible for leveraging NPIs fast growing North American renewables portfolio by maintaining deep connections with and understanding of the supplier and contractor market ensuring development of contracting strategies and execution of procurement campaigns in accordance with the Procurement Policy for projects across solar and energy storage technologies. You will be accountable for execution and assurance of specific standards for preparation and execution of ITT/RFP contract negotiations and contract management as well as maintaining supplier relationships and supporting execution of the technology category strategies.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement your day-to-day will entail close engagement with projects in development and execution working closely with equipment suppliers and EPC and project support contractors. As part of our global team you will also collaborate with various internal stakeholders including Development Engineering Construction Legal and Risk ESG and insurance management.

The role is required to be in the Toronto office 4 days per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead relationships with key suppliers and contractors for renewables projects and assets develop new suppliers via pre-qualification process.
  • Lead the development of procurement and contracting strategies for renewables projects in North America.
  • Ensure that procurement activities in all projects are in accordance with applicable legislation ethical practices ESG requirements NPI HSSEQ requirements the NPI Procurement Policy and meet the requirements of the NPI project maturation stage gate model
  • Develop and implement standards for procurement in renewables projects aligned with project maturation requirements
  • Maturation of an appropriate contracting suite to support project development aligned to the ambitions of the onshore development team and optimize TCO/LCoE.
  • Support the development and execution of negotiation strategies for renewables that strengthen NPIs position in the market and benefit the organizations financial performance.
  • Development of project should-cost models management of contractor performance claims and variations management and supplier performance management with construction teams.
  • Support to O&M Management in identification and execution of cost-savings initiatives to achieve optimisation of third-party spend on renewable assets.
  • Ensure continuous improvement and knowledge sharing is captured and brought from project to project and is reflected in the contracts.
  • Support project execution through contract management especially in relation to variations and claims.
  • Support to non-procurement colleagues in execution of low value and low risk spend across different spend categories.
  • Work closely with Project Management PMO and Financial Risk Oversight teams to develop a detailed and accurate assessment of contract supplier/contractor and market risks.

Qualifications and experience

  • 7-10 years of experience working on high value CAPEX projects in Canada and the US preferably in large industrial renewables projects.
  • A solid background in the solar storage and wind onshore renewables industry combined with relevant procurement or commercial related education and experience is preferred.
  • Recent experience of tendering negotiating executing and managing equipment supply and EPC contracts is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of project management processes and experience driving change towards lean processes while ensuring adoption and improvement of defined standards.
  • A strong network in the renewables industry is an advantage.
