Overview:
The Development Sciences Biologics Drug Product Development organization within AbbVie develops and characterizes drug product formulations and manufacturing processes to provide clinical dosage forms to enable the development of AbbVies pipeline. AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated person to join the Biologics CMC Developability Team. Our team utilizes start-of-the-art biophysical and analytical instrumentation to support the early-stage assessment of candidates coming out of the Discovery pipeline with the opportunity to influence the design and development of stable drug product formulation and manufacturing processes for biologics used in clinical trials. Key to our success is implementing data capture tools and laboratory automation. To leverage our data for modeling we are seeking to add a data scientist to our team. The successful candidate will leverage deep experience in data science and familiarity with protein analysis to operationalize predictive addition the candidate will be expected to drive key scientific initiatives and lead innovative approaches to improve current this role the candidate will be a member of a global team and will work closely with scientists from multiple functional areas including Discovery Development Science Digital Transformation and Information Research.
Responsibilities:
- Lead overall BCD team strategy for digital systems automation enabling seamless integration of digital capture workflows into emerging paradigms of predictive modeling laboratory automation and active learning cycles.
- Coordinate efforts with internal and external partners for digital systems design improvement and training.
- Empower BCD Team through enabling access to databased information.
- May develop fit for purpose tools for workflow automation data interpretation and analysis. If tools are desired for enterprise support this individual would be responsible for overseeing transfer to enterprise support teams.
- Identifies emerging scientific and technological trends from multiple internal and external sources assesses relevance and integrates applicable trends into BCD plans and strategies as appropriate. Present data at internal and external professional conferences and prepare manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals or patent applications.
- Lead developability assessment activities for 1-2 Discovery Projects at a time.
Qualifications :
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent education and typically 12 years of experience OR Masters Degree or equivalent education and typically 10 years of experience OR PhD and typically 4 years of experience.
- Extensive experience with scientific workflows and key data associated with these workflows is required.
- The ideal candidate brings a blend of scientific experience in a scientific discipline in CMC Development of biologics and strong IT /data analytics skills
- Skilled at querying and cleaning data from both relational and graph databases
- Experience with standard programming languages
- Works with diverse groups with a range of functional and IT systems experience; maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
Key Competencies:
- Builds strong relationships with peers and cross functionally with partners outside of the team to enable higher performance.
- Excellent oral communication skills in a scientific setting as well as sound technical writing and documentation competencies are required.
- The candidate must be able to work independently respond to changing priorities and short lead times for multiple tasks; able to identify problems and work toward solutions.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at thetime of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic locationand we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
