Role:Sourcing Manager

Location:Coimbatore

Experience:12 – 20 years

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced Manager – Sourcing with strong exposure to

manufacturing procurement new product development vendor development cost

management and localization. The role will be responsible for end-to-end new part

development supplier sourcing techno-commercial negotiations cost optimization and

supply chain coordination for heavy engineering products. The position plays a critical role in

achieving cost targets quality standards and timely SOP in a manufacturing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

New Product Development (NPD)

Lead new product development for aluminium PDC & GDC castings forgings gears

axle shafts and transmission aggregates.

Manage the complete part development lifecycle from supplier identification to SOP.

Coordinate with R&D SQA Manufacturing and Suppliers for RTS discussions

PPAP approvals pilot batch support and quality readiness.

Monitor development progress and ensure adherence to project timelines.

Sourcing & Vendor Development

Identify evaluate and develop Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers for new and existing

commodities.

Launch RFQs conduct zero-based cost estimation evaluate quotations and finalize

suppliers.

Negotiate part pricing payment terms productivity discounts and long-term

agreements (LTAs).

Conduct Supplier Risk Analysis and Mitigation Planning.

Cost Management & Localization

Drive cost reduction initiatives through localization resourcing VA/VE and

negotiation.

Prepare and implement Make vs Buy strategies supported by ROI analysis.

Achieve cost targets for new developments and ensure continuous cost optimization.

Maintain updated knowledge of raw material rates grades and supplier market

trends.

Procurement & Supply Chain Management

Manage techno-commercial activities to meet quality delivery and cost targets.

Oversee procurement operations inventory planning logistics coordination and

supply continuity.

Ensure optimal utilization of budgets allocated for new developments.

Support crisis management to ensure uninterrupted supply.

Technical & Manufacturing Knowledge

Work closely with suppliers on process feasibility cycle time validation tooling/fixture

cost estimation and manufacturing capability.

Support supplier process validation including machining heat treatment and

assembly processes.

Ensure compliance with packaging standards and testing requirements.

Team & Stakeholder Management

Lead and mentor a team of procurement and NPD professionals.

Coordinate cross-functional teams across India and international markets.

Prepare and present weekly/monthly performance reports and cost metrics to senior

management.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering

12 years of experience in manufacturing procurement and NPD

Prior experience in automotive tractor gearbox transmission or heavy engineering

manufacturing preferred

Possess strong expertise in zero-based costing RFQ management techno-

commercial negotiations and supplier finalization

Have successfully driven localization resourcing VA/VE and cost reduction

initiatives

Are experienced in vendor development managing Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers and

handling long-term agreements

Have worked closely with R&D SQA Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams during

NPD and SOP phases

Are proficient in ERP PP & MM modules and comfortable working with data reports

and cost analytics

Demonstrate strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and

coordinating across multiple locations or international markets

Are cost-conscious process-driven and quality-focused with a strong understanding

of manufacturing and supplier processes.

MNC exposure is preferred.
