The Department of Chemistry has an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor Laboratory Services to work in Coral Gables.
The Academic Laboratory Supervisor reporting to the Chair of the Department oversees stockroom operations and undergraduate laboratory classroom. The position will serve as a liaison between the stockroom supervisor laboratory coordinator faculty staff and students.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepares maintains and dismantles chemistry undergraduate laboratories.
Ensures that chemicals reagents equipment laboratories for undergraduate teaching laboratories as well as the stockroom and storerooms are in good working order and ready for use.
Identifies problems and initiates appropriate follow-up/action when necessary.
Ensures teaching assistants perform their laboratory duties and student employees perform their tasks as assigned outlined by the stockroom supervisor laboratory coordinator and/or chairperson.
Follows emergency protocols as needed in any undergraduate laboratory or stockroom area.
Ensures that undergraduate teaching laboratories stockroom and storerooms are in compliance with departmental and university safety regulations.
Follows and enforces directions in laboratory safety including but not limited to PPE (eye protection appropriate dress code and protective garments) and chemicals (safe handling storage and disposal).
Ensures that all students faculty staff and visitors are well served by providing a pleasant and organized atmosphere that is appropriate for all age groups ethnic groups and physical handicaps.
Understands comprehends and applies University and departmental policies and procedures. Responds to routine inquiries or requests and assists departmental and receiving staff as well as the chairperson and/or the laboratory coordinator as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree
Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience. Any relevant education certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
