Job Summary
Camp Counselor Minimum eligibility for a Camp Counselor is 15 years old. Must be American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED certified and able to pass a swim test and a Level 2 fingerprint screening (varies by location).
Must be able to pass a level 2 background check (fingerprinting for FL State and Federal records) as well as a drug screening as part of the hiring process.
Counselors are responsible for all aspects of youth programs operations including but not limited to: supervising and ensuring the safety of campers teaching and organizing water/pool activities setting up and cleaning up equipment and providing outstanding customer service.
Actively supervise campers during all aquatic and general activities providing constant attention to ensure their safety.
Plan and lead engaging age-appropriate activities including swimming water games crafts nature songs indoor games and park visits.
Enforce all safety guidelines and emergency procedures respond to emergencies and assist lifeguards with pool supervision.
Demonstrate leadership enthusiasm and positive behavior to foster a fun and nurturing camp environment.
Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.
Help maintain the cleanliness and safety of aquatic facilities and equipment.
Effectively communicate with campers parents and fellow staff members reporting on progress and addressing concerns.
Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports logbook documentation and daily attendance.
Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
Strong swimming skills and comfort in the water are necessary.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a camp staff team.
Holidays are mandatory as this position is seasonal. These holidays include: Memorial Day Independence Day and Labor Day.
