JOB SUMMARY:
The Preschool ESS Instructional Assistant IV supports teachers in a program lead capacity by implementing the instructional program and working directly with staff and students in small groups or one-to-one settings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Additional duties asassigned.
- Effectively utilizes district technologiesappropriateto thepositionand assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfullyperformdesignated responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
- Assists teacher as needed with planning preparation and distribution of classroom materials.
- Conducts learning games with students according to establishedprocedures.
- Supervision and instruction of children; copying cutting coloring etc. to construct materials and bulletin boards.
- Maintains regular attendance and complies with State Law and District policies and regulations.
- Maintains a safe environment for students conducive to learning.
- Anticipates and effectively addresses unforeseen crises associated with working with large groups of children.
- Provides individualized and small-group instruction to reinforce skills thathave been taughtby the teacher.
- Serves snacks and lunches as necessary.
- Attends workshops as directed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises children in the classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Associates Degreeorequivalent of two (2) years college education (60 Semester Hours)orpassing test results from theParaProorWorkKeysassessmentis required.
- Experience working with children.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- First aid and CPR.
- Valid Level One IVP fingerprint clearance card.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to write reports business correspondence etc.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators staff and thegeneral public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such asprobabilityand statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to interface effectively with other departments schoolpersonnel other maintenance staff and business contacts from outside of the District.
- Possesses and successfully uses the following skills:
- Ability to work withindividualsand groups of students to support academics and behavior management.
- Must have patience working with children.
- Ability to learn new skills flexibility and willingness toperforma variety oftasks.
- Ability to follow written and oral directions and complete assignments given.
- Ability toestablishandmaintaineffective working relationships with students peers parents and staff members.
- Is self-directed and works without direct supervision.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal witha variety ofconcrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpreta variety ofinstructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule from.
