Wildlife Discipline Lead. This position offers a high degree of flexibility and autonomy and provides meaningful opportunities for both personal and professional development. Remote / WFH / Hybrid:Hybrid or 100% remote (driving distance of Calgary AB)
Travel: Minimal client visits
Salary: $89500 - $153200 plus health benefits annual performance bonus personal allowance days RRSP matching overtime (x1.5)
Project Delivery and Execution
- Deliver wildlife projects on time and on budget with accurate forecasting disciplined cost control and clean billing resulting in minimal write-offs and strong client satisfaction.
- Lead projects from planning through field execution to final deliverables resolving technical logistical and resourcing issues without escalation.
- Ensure field programs are executed safely efficiently and to a high technical standard when site presence is required.
Technical Leadership and Judgement
- Interpret and synthesize field data into defensible wildlife assessments mitigation strategies and management recommendations that withstand regulatory and client scrutiny.
- Produce clear well-structured technical reports and regulatory submissions that require minimal senior review and achieve predictable approval outcomes.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients on wildlife-related risk compliance and project strategy.
People Leadership and Team Development
- Actively develop intermediate and junior staff by improving their technical competence communication skills and commercial awareness.
- Build a capable reliable wildlife team by delegating appropriately setting clear expectations and providing timely constructive feedback.
- Create a culture of accountability learning and safety within the discipline.
Client Relationships and Business Growth
- Strengthen relationships with existing clients through consistent delivery responsiveness and professional judgment leading to repeat work and expanded scope.
- Identify and pursue organic and structured business development opportunities aligned with wildlife services.
- Contribute to proposals scopes and budgets that are realistic competitive and profitable.
Autonomy and Professional Discipline
- Operate independently with minimal oversight prioritizing competing demands and adapting to shifting timelines.
- Meet tight deadlines including occasional work outside standard hours without compromising quality safety or judgment.
- Uphold and model the organizations core values in all client regulator and internal interactions.
Requirements:- Bachelor of Science in Biology Ecology Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Eligible or eligible-to-be-registered Professional Biologist in Alberta and or British Columbia.
- Approximately 10 years of relevant professional experience in wildlife and environmental consulting.
- Advanced field identification and assessment expertise with willingness to conduct fieldwork as required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity competing priorities and complex stakeholder environments.
- Proven track record of maintaining a strong health and safety culture.
- High personal accountability strong judgement and an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Curiosity and openness to adopting new tools technologies and approaches.
