POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the VP Defence Strategy theLead Defence Supply Chain & Procurement plays a critical strategic and enabling role in strengthening BDCs support for Canadian entrepreneurs operating within the defence sector. Leveraging deep expertise in defence procurement regulatory frameworks and market dynamics the incumbent will help bridge knowledge gaps across the organization support business development efforts and enhance BDCs credibility within the defence industrial base. Working closely with internal Lines of Business Marketing Partnerships and external stakeholders this role contributes to the development of scalable advisoryfinancing& investmentsolutions aligned with BDCs Defence strategy and Canadas evolving defence priorities.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

Expertise

  • Conduct current-state assessment and identify potential gaps by leveraging deepexpertise in defence procurement processes.

  • Build an executable roadmap withactionable guidance to investment and financing professionals on defence procurement cycles capability priorities and emerging opportunities translating complex governance requirements to help close identified gaps.

  • Collaborate withBDCLines of Business (FinancingBDC Capital Advisory Services)to ensure successful implementation of identified actions andtrack progress of related KPIs

  • Monitor defence-sector RFPs SOWs supply chain tiering and regulatory frameworks (including Controlled Goods security clearances and ITAR/EAR) to inform BDCs Defence strategy while serving as an internal ambassador for defence-related expertise and enabling organizational knowledge transfer.

  • Collaborate with leadership across the Lines of Business to identify opportunities and support the development and delivery of scalable service offerings for entrepreneurs.

  • In collaboration with Marketing and Partnerships support the development of thought leadership and enablement initiatives such as articles webinars and practical tools. This role complements the work of Advisory Services specialists by helping scale and amplify advisory expertise across the organization.

2. Business Development Support

  • Collaborate with the Lines of Business (BDCC GTC Financing and Advisory Services) and the Economics team to identify opportunities to enhance BDCs presence within the defence industrial base including target segments growth areas and potential partnerships.

  • As required provide an expert point of view on specific transactions related to BDCC GTC and Financing.

  • Work in collaboration with Marketing Lines of Business and Product teams to support the development of defence-specific go-to-market strategies and performance metrics aligned with internal planning materials.

3. Market Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Represent BDC within the defence community including industry associations OEMs government procurement offices accelerators and capability conferences.

  • Build and maintain networks with the Department of National Defence (DND) the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and defence contractors ensuring BDC is positioned as a trusted partner supporting Canadian industry participation.

  • Monitor trends in defence spending capability development plans and federal procurement modernization to ensure BDCs strategy remains aligned with market realities.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 15 yearsseniorleadershipexperience across the Defence sector public service consulting and industry with deep expertise in defence procurement supply chain and complex contracting environments.

  • Proven experience operating in securitycleared and highly regulated environments including federal defence procurement capital programs and controlled supply chains.

  • Demonstrated expertise across the full defence procurement lifecycle including RFPs Statements of Work bid evaluations contract negotiations and contract lifecycle management.

  • Strong understanding of defencespecific regulatory and governance frameworks including Controlled Goods security clearances and export control considerations (e.g. ITAR/EAR).

  • Track record of advising senior executives and government leaders on strategic decisionmaking risk and governance in complex defence and national security contexts.

  • Bilingual in English and Frenchis an asset
