The Team
The Provincial Airtanker Centre is located in Kamloops BC and responsible for all aspects of airtanker operations in BC. The dispatch team is a long established unit comprised of one dispatch supervisor two dispatch leads and eight dispatchers. The dispatch lead reports to the dispatch supervisor provides leadership to airtanker centre dispatch in order to provide safe and efficient airtanker operations. The Role
As a dispatch lead at Provincial Airtanker Centre you will play a vital role in managing emergency response for wildfire situations across British Columbia. Your responsibilities will include supporting the dispatch team by monitoring work assignments coaching and mentoring staff and providing technical expertise in order support operations. This role requires exceptional attention to detail multi-tasking skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure as youll be juggling multiple demands and time-sensitive requests throughout the day. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 and an equivalent combination of education training and related experience plus 2 years emergency response related experience.


Preference statement(s)

  • Preference may be given to candidates with demonstrated supervisory experience


Provisos /Willingness statement(s)

  • To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities assignments and corporate structures
  • To keep current on emerging issues
  • To take in-house training and certification as required
  • To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required
  • To work extended hours including weekends and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan
  • To travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required
  • To participate in Incident Command System positions as assigned
  • To work under adverse or stressful conditions including smoke extreme heat and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions
  • Valid Class 5 or 7 driver licence

About this Position:
This temporary (auxiliary) opportunity starts in approximately March 2026 and ends in November 14 2026 with possibility of recall on a yearly basis.
This position may be extended.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
