Job Summary

Your role at St John of God St John of God Geelong Hospital

You will be responsible for delivering high quality general nursing care under the direction of a division 1 Registered Nurse.

2 North is a 30 bed Orthopaedic and Urology surgical ward. 2 North caregivers provide care for post operative patients following Orthopaedic procedures which include joint replacements ligament and fracture repairs and urology procedures which range from kidney stone extraction to major robotic surgery.

We are currently seeking applications from suitably qualified Endorsed Enrolled Nurses to join our highly skilled team on 2 North at St John of God Geelong Hospital.

This is a permanent night shift position. Shifts are:

9:30pm - 7:30am

Week 1 - Monday Tuesday

Week 2 - Monday Tuesday Wednesday Sunday

Hours may be negotiated

The Position

  • Works in consultation and co-operation with other care team members to provide care according to the physical and emotional needs of the patient and their families.

  • Discharge planning is initiated on patients admission to ensure appropriate use of all resources and the patient/family are well prepared for discharge.

  • Maintains clear concise accurate and timely nursing documentation

  • Employs self-management strategies to maintain own health and wellbeing.

  • Participate in contribute to and implement quality improvement and risk management into all aspects of service

  • The caregiver recognising St John of God Health Care commitment to responsible environmental stewardship will support the organisational Environmental goals in performance of all duties.

To succeed you have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as an Enrolled Nurse with the ability to solve problems or seek help from appropriate resources with a commitment to on-going education. You will demonstrate commitment to quality patient care and satisfaction along with well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.

To succeed you will have the ability to work effectively and harmoniously within the multi-disciplinary health care team with a commitment to ongoing education and professional development. Previous experience within a hospital environment and Orthopaedic and Urology experience will be highly regarded.

We can offer you

  • Salary: $64650 to $73450 (pro rata if part time) plus 12% superannuation

  • Permanent part time position available
