The Customer Safety Insights & Investigations (CS2I) team is seeking a Sr. Risk Manager to shape how Amazon discovers interprets and responds to emerging product safety risks. This role sits at the intersection of investigations data intelligence and strategic decision-making. You will work with rich multi-source datasets across incidents claims and other safety indicators and transform complex ambiguous signals into clear insights and mechanisms that scale across Amazons global stores.
You will partner closely with Science and Tech teams to help refine detection logic inform AI/ML model improvements and influence the tools that power Amazons early-warning and risk identification systems. You will also contribute to senior-leadership narratives that guide prioritization investment decisions and long-term safety strategy.
This is a high-visibility IC role for someone who enjoys solving difficult analytical puzzles thrives in ambiguous environments and wants to help design the next generation of Amazons safety detection capabilities.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic Risk Intelligence & Early Detection
- Analyze diverse safety datasets to surface patterns trends and emerging risk.
- Translate ambiguous multi-source inputs into structured insights that inform Amazons safety strategy.
- Build mechanisms that improve how signals are interpreted triaged and actioned across teams.
Investigations & Deep-Dive Problem Solving
- Conduct deep dives on complex or high-impact cases to uncover insights that guide broader safety improvements.
- Connect findings from individual cases to cross-category learnings highlighting opportunities to strengthen safety controls and customer protections.
- Support teams in navigating ambiguous situations with clear data-backed judgment.
Detection AI/ML Collaboration & Predictive Insights
- Partner with Science and Tech to inform detection logic enhancements and contribute to the refinement of AI/ML risk models.
- Provide structured input that improves data quality feature design and predictive accuracy within safety tools.
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring analytical workflows and strengthen early-warning signals.
Executive Influence & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Prepare concise high-judgment narratives and recommendations for VP-level and senior leadership reviews.
- Influence Product Legal Policy Operations Tech and international partners to align on risk mitigation approaches.
- Drive clarity prioritization and decision-making across complex cross-functional problem spaces.
Mechanism Building & Program Development
- Create scalable mechanisms that improve signal quality evaluation prioritization workflows and risk monitoring.
- Help design structures that enhance Amazons long-term approach to detecting and managing safety risks globally.
- Contribute to multi-year planning and strategic program roadmaps.
A day in the life
You may begin by reviewing new safety signals and spotting patterns that merit deeper investigation. Next you collaborate with Science or Tech to refine inputs needed for a detection workflow or model improvement. Later you partner with an investigator to synthesize insights from a recent case and translate them into a clear recommendation. You wrap up the day by drafting a leadership-facing narrative outlining risk options and next steps.

The CS2I team investigates serious safety incidents interprets complex signals and works across Amazon to drive improvements that protect customers. We operate globally and partner with Product Tech Science Legal Policy and Operations teams. We value curiosity high judgment strong analytical skills and clear communication.
- 6 years of compliance audit or risk management experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Bachelors degree or equivalent
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
- Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent
- Masters degree or equivalent
