About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Back End Software Developer with deep mainframe and hierarchical database experience to support mission critical government systems. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise structured development discipline and the ability to collaborate across large enterprise teams.

Key Responsibilities

Develop maintain and enhance server side and mainframe applications
Translate technical and business requirements into tested production ready solutions
Design code test debug and document applications using structured methodologies
Perform IMS DB reorganization unload reload and recovery control
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across environments
Collaborate with IT professionals across the full Software Development Life Cycle
Support implementation conversion and post deployment activities
Participate in design walkthroughs and technical reviews
Ensure performance reliability and responsiveness of backend systems
Produce user and system documentation as required

Mandatory Technical Requirements

Mainframe and Databases

10 years of experience designing and developing mainframe applications
Strong expertise in IMS DB DC Full Function and FASTPATH and VSAM
Hands on experience with IMS database reorganization and recovery

Programming and Tools

10 years of experience with Enterprise COBOL JCL Assembler TSO ISPF REXX CLIST BTS
Experience with CA Scheduling MVS File Aid and Abend Aid
Experience with CA Telon and IBM ACB BDB and PSB generation
Experience with CA Easytrieve and CA SAR
Experience with IBM 3270 SNA and NDM communications

Development Practices

10 years of experience in programming and systems analysis
Strong experience with structured development methodologies
End to end experience across design development testing debugging and documentation

Domain Experience (Highly Valued)

Experience with Personal Property Security Registration PPSR or similar property registration systems
Experience working within Ontario Public Service or similar large enterprise public sector environments
Familiarity with OPS architecture applications databases and systems
Understanding of Information Management principles
Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act AODA standards

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively in large structured teams
Proven ability to meet deadlines in complex environments
