Job Summary

Job Description
30% - Assist recruitment staff in preparing materials and supplies including nametags camper packets and promotional items.
30% - Assist in coordinating mealtime set-up and tear down including greeting catering deliveries prepare spaces for meals and tear down any leftover supplies.
20% - Serve as main point of contact at welcome table assist with any space-related issues or supplies needs that may arise.
10% - Offer tours of ArcD facilities throughout summer during off-weeks as needed.
10% - Other duties as assigned.

  1. Current KU student enrolled in 6-credit hours either in the Spring 2026 semester or Fall 2026 semester.
  2. Must be at least 18-years old at the time of hire.
  3. Must be available to work for the duration of both weeks of camp (May 31-June 6; July 6-10).
  4. Willing to travel to and from KU Edwards Campus during the week of July 6-10.


  1. Previous experience as a camp counselor.
  2. Preference given to students in the School of Architecture and Design and to students enrolled in KUs Masters of Higher Education and Student Affairs.


Position Overview
KU Design Camp is a pre-college summer program offered to high school students who are entering their sophomore junior or senior year and are interested in Architecture or Design. Students learn in hands-on workshops taught by KU School of Architecture & Design faculty. The residential camp option is held at the Lawrence campus and the day camp option is held at the Edwards campus. The School of Architecture & Design is hiring a Design Camp Assistant to aid with camp logistics and activities including preparing materials and supplies for upcoming camp activities coordinating mealtime logistics and assisting with additional duties as assigned. Applicants must be available for the entirety of both weeks of Design Camp (May 31 June 6 July 6-10).

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
