Job Summary
Job Title: Network Engineer - Cisco LAN Operations
Location: East Peoria IL
Work Type: Onsite - Local Candidates Only
Duration: 13 Months (Contract)
Shift: First Shift
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support and enhance enterprise LAN operations for a leading manufacturing organization in East Peoria IL. This is a hands-on onsite role focused on Cisco-based LAN environments supporting network stability performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Primary Skills (Must Have)
Cisco Switching & LAN Operations
Ethernet & TCP/IP Networking
VLANs OSPF QoS
IP Subnetting & Switching
LAN Implementation & Support
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose troubleshoot and resolve LAN-related issues
Replace or coordinate replacement of defective network components
Support LAN enhancements and new implementations based on business needs
Participate in on-call rotations for off-hours critical support
Collaborate with business partners and vendors to integrate network infrastructure
Coordinate changes with firewall VPN wireless and NAC teams
Follow IT Service Management (ITSM) standards and implement process improvements
Provide technical guidance and consultation on LAN solutions
Required Qualifications
5-7 years of experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role
Strong hands-on experience with LAN operations and implementation
Proven expertise with Cisco switches
Solid understanding of:
TCP/IP
Ethernet
OSPF
QoS
VLANs
IP subnetting
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field
(or 8 years of equivalent professional experience)
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Nice-to-Have Skills
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Network automation or scripting experience
Familiarity with Cisco DNA Center (Catalyst Center)
Wireless networking knowledge
Exposure to enterprise-scale network environments
