Job Description:
Sun Life Hong Kong is seeking a Manager Digital Product Owner to lead the evolution of our Client Value Stream. This is a high-impact role for a hybrid professional who combines strategic product vision with deep business analysis capabilities. You will act as Product for our core client touchpoints: Client App Client Data Platform Payment Solutions and Marketing Automation. You will bridge the gap between complex business insurance needs and modern digital delivery navigating the transition from legacy systems to a digital-first ecosystem.
Responsibilities
1. Product Strategy & Roadmap Ownership
- Define the Vision: Collaborate with business stakeholders to define a forward-looking product roadmap that solves complex business problems and drives tangible business value.
- Market Benchmarking: Perform market analysis and benchmarking to identify gaps compared to competitors ensuring Our Client App and Client facing digitial capabilities remain market-leading.
- Legacy to Digital Transformation: Lead initiatives that involve transitioning from legacy backend systems to modern digital front-ends ensuring data integrity and seamless user experiences.
2. Backlog Management & Agile Execution
- Prioritization: Own the prioritized backlog. Break down broad complicated business issues into manageable features and user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Hybrid Delivery: Operate effectively across Agile Waterfall or Hybrid approaches depending on project needs (e.g. nimble App updates vs. complex core-system Payment integrations).
- Requirements Clarity: Verify requirements for completeness consistency and feasibility. Ensure user stories are ready for development by supplementing them with process flows data mapping and gap analysis where necessary.
3. Business Analysis & Problem Solving
- Root Cause Analysis: Drill into problem statements and ask the right questions to understand root causes rather than just treating symptomsspecifically for complex flows like Claims Payouts or Premium Collections.
- SME & Bridge: Act as the primary bridge between Business (Marketing Operations Distribution) and Technology. Translate Business Speak into Tech Speak and vice versa.
- Impact Analysis: Work closely with technical teams to provide functional inputs for system impact analysis particularly when new digital features interact with core insurance platforms.
4. Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Influencing: Exercise excellent influencing and negotiation skills to align diverse stakeholders (IT Compliance Product Marketing) on priorities and trade-offs.
- Collaboration: Facilitate workshops to elicit key business needs. Collaborate with UX/UI teams to ensure requirements are translated into intuitive designs.
- Onboarding: Assist in user on-boarding for new internal tools (e.g. C360 dashboards for agents) with documentation and training support.
Qualifications & Requirements
- University Graduate in Business Information Systems Computer Science or related disciplines.
- 6 years of experience in sizable IT projects or large organizations.
- Minimum 3 years in the Insurance Industry is mandatory and possess sound knowledge of insurance products channels customer behaviors and operational processes.
- Proven track record acting as a Product Owner or Lead Business Analyst
- Legacy & Modern Tech: Experience managing the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) involving both modern digital platforms and legacy system integration.
- Analytical Rigor: Ability to create business process flows data mappings and perform detailed gap analysis.
- Agile Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Agile toolsets (JIRA Confluence) is essential.
- Adaptability: Able to work in a complex environment with a mix of technologies and varying levels of IT maturity across business units.
