The University of Lynchburg a private regional university located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia is seeking a full-time tenure track or clinical track position in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at the Assistant/Associate Professor level.

The DPT Program is part of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences with opportunities for interprofessional experiences with a variety of other health science programs. The program is housed in the Graduate Health Sciences Building with more than 37000 square feet dedicated to physical therapy instruction service and research. The curriculum features an innovative hybrid model of instruction that prepares student physical therapists to become generalist practitioners who become leaders in the profession. Clinical practice is promoted among faculty and opportunities exist within the onsite free clinic. The Program received initial accreditation in 2013 and is scheduled for re-review in 2028.

Position Description: The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at the University of Lynchburg invites applications for a full-time (12 month) tenure or clinical track assistant/associate professor level faculty position to begin during the Spring of 2026.

The ideal candidate should have experience teaching generalist physical therapy content to entry-level DPT students. Additionally candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues.

Starting Salary: Commensurate with experience

Teaching Load and Work Hours: Full-time faculty members are expected to teach the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester. Faculty members are generally required to be available from 8:30AM-4:30PM with rare evening and weekend work requirements.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching entry-level content to DPT students
  • A minimum of three years of contemporary physical therapy clinical practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia (Virginia licensure is required within one year of employment)
  • A scholarly agenda that contributes to teaching and/or practice
  • The ability to teach courses related to generalist practice and/or acute care

Education: A Clinical Specialist Certification and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree or an entry-level physical therapist degree and a terminal academic doctoral degree (e.g. PhD EdD DSc or DHSc); candidates approaching completion of a terminal academic degree will also be considered
