What Will You Do

As an Admissions Registered Nurse at Pine Rest youll be part of tight-knit team that believes in the healing power of your expertise and Admission RN is a flexible critical thinker who works to improve outcomes for patients and fellow nurses. An Admission Nurses primary role is to complete patient assessments on new admissions across Pine Rests eight inpatient units. Admission Nurses interact with children adolescents adults and older adults each experiencing unique mental health crises. Admission Nurse should be prepared to greet new patients with compassion empathy and integrity. The admission nurse is also equipped to expedite the admission process for patients who are at referring facilities or the Pine Rest Urgent Care.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interviews new patients with patience and sympathy while also completing the admission navigator found in EPIC including care planning treatment planning and progress notes in a timely fashion.
  • Educating patients/guardians on their admission status (involuntary vs voluntary) and the unit they are being admitted to (schedule rules contraband).
  • Answers basic questions from patients and guardian regarding their admission and the unit.
  • Completes admission paperwork skin assessments and physical assessments.
  • Assesses the needs of each unit for an admissions nurse based on their acuity and staffing.
  • Provides information and background to unit nurse about new patients and communicating their needs (e.g. medication special observation and withdrawal protocol).
  • Collaborates with multiple disciplines including safety specialists contact center clinicians and psychiatrist to get patient on to the inpatient unit.
  • Provides a safe and secure environment for persons served and staff during the admissions process.

What Does This Role Require

Education/Experience:

Licensed to practice in the state of Michigan Bachelors Degree in Nursing is preferred.
May be required to have professional knowledge of psychiatric nursing theory as required through completion of education from an accredited school of nursing.
Previous clinical experience.
