Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED) provides skilled nursing care to patients in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include patient assessment medication administration treatment planning and collaboration with the healthcare team. The RN will work nights and will be required to float within scope to meet facility needs.

Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the ED.
- Perform patient assessments and develop treatment plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms.
- Manage patients with multi-system organ dysfunction/failure.
- Obtain 12-lead EKGs.
- Administer blood products.
- Provide central line care and management.
- Perform phlebotomy and start IVs.
- Administer continuous IV paralytics and sedatives.
- Administer emergency medications and IV vasopressors.
- Administer procedural sedation.
- Manage patients with neurological orthopedic pediatric psychiatric and respiratory conditions.
- Manage patients experiencing shock and trauma including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations.
- Implement isolation precautions.
- Perform triage.
- Interpret telemetry.
- Manage patients on ventilators.
- Document patient care in Cerner.
- Float as needed to other units within scope of practice.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or ETA required to apply.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department setting.
- ACLS BLS NIH PALS and TNCC certifications required.
- Experience with general Emergency Department-Combined Adult/Pedi Level II Trauma Center.
- Experience with interpretation of dysrhythmias management of dysrhythmias management of patient with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure obtain 12 lead EKG.
- Experience with Blood Product Administration Central line care/management Phlebotomy Starting IVs.
- Experience with Continuous IV paralytics Continuous IV sedation Emergency Medications IV vasopressors Procedural Sedation Administration.
- Experience with CVA ICP monitoring Neuro-Trauma Spinal cord injury Traumatic brain injury.
- Experience with Ortho-trauma.
- Experience with Abdominal Pain Asthma Burns Epiglottitis Head Injury Hyperglycemia Identifying and reporting abuse Infections Mental/behavioral health concerns Near drowning Poison ingestion Respiratory infections Seizures Sickle cell crisis Skin Disorders Spinal cord injury Urinary tract infections.
- Experience with Acute psychosis Drug overdose Managing violent behavior Psychiatric Hold Suicidal Patient.
- Experience with Chest tube insertion/management CPAP/BiPAP Interpretation of ABGs Intubation Ventilated patients.
- Experience with Gunshot wounds Traumatic amputation.
- Experience with Isolation Precautions Triage.
- Experience with Tele Interpretations Ventilators.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Cerner experience preferred.
- Previous charge experience preferred.
Special Considerations:
- Will work weekends as needed.
- Will float within scope to meet facility needs.
- RTO restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days.
- The client may call off up to 36 hours per thirteen-week assignment without paying for the canceled hours.

- 4x12 or 3x12 Nights (1900-0730)
