POSITION SUMMARY
Operates the Aluminum Wire Draw and the Wire Stranding machines and consistently meets Marmon Utilitys quality and productivity requirements in a safe manner with minimum scrap.
Essential Job Functions
- Comply with all company safety rules during working hours and ensure the safety of yourself and others at your work station.
- Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean organized and orderly condition.
- Work in a professional mannerpunctual dependable and consistent.
- Set up both lines mechanically from pay-off through take-up operations including installing appropriate tooling (dies) and all auxiliary equipment needed to produce specified stranded conductor gauge sizes per process instructions.
- Monitor the supply of raw materials to ensure continuous operation.
- Perform required measurements using companyapproved measuring devices to ensure the final product meets specifications (reference PC 034 and PC 025).
- Verify all measuring devices are in proper calibration.
- Take corrective action as needed to maintain product quality.
- Generate product identification tags for finished product and maintain accurate records of all required information including work center line logs.
- Participate in scheduled team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Support and maintain ISO certification requirements.
- Follow all applicable System Level Procedures (SLP) and Process Controls (PC).
- Follow production tracking report schedules.
- Visually inspect empty takeup reels for proper size strength appearance and any foreign materials that may cause product damage.
- Operate the takeup machine and ensure reels are neat and free of crossovers or loops.
- Weld wire to maintain spooltospool operation.
- Weld rod to maintain rodtorod operation.
- Monitor annealer solution and die lubrication levels to ensure smooth and continuous operation.
Education Experience Skills & Knowledge
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Understanding of basic line operations and line components.
- Familiarity with tools and measuring devices used in the industry.
- Ability to operate payoff and takeup equipment.
- Knowledge of ISO requirements related to line operations.
- Ability to select and install gears and dies.
- Understanding of internal/industry codes and abbreviations for conductors and wires.
- Basic principles of welding.
- Ability to identify and tag finished products.
- Willingness to accept direction and work effectively within a team environment.
Mechanical Aptitude Requirements:
- Ability to read micrometers and other precision measuring tools.
- Perform basic shop math.
- Read and follow written instructions.
- Communicate effectively to exchange information and instructions.
- Troubleshoot basic line problems.
- Maintain strong attention to detail.
- Perform simple computer tasks.
- Produce quality conductor welds.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
The position requires the ability to:
- Lift up to 50 pounds from floor to chest height.
- Exert up to 60 pounds of force to roll a spool off a pallet onto a track (5080 spools per 12hour shift).
- Maneuver spin and align reelsexerting up to 100 pounds of forceup to an 84 size safely.
- Exert 3050 pounds of force using cable cutters.
- Visually inspect product quality.
- Use hand tools and measuring devices.
