Summary:
The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher serves as the case manager and provider of a continuum of special education service for qualifying students in home community-based early childhood special education and preschool settings. The teacher collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team in a variety of special education activities including Child Find eligibility and Individualized Education Program (IEP) process.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:
- Collaborate with school staff and families to develop relative plans to address student needs.
- Serve as IEP case manager for qualifying students adhering to all required special education regulations and timelines.
- Provide a continuum of special education services based upon current research and evidence based practices.
- Develop lesson plans in accordance with curriculum expectations and IEP requirements.
- Ensure that the instructional adaptive social/emotional and behavioral needs of students are met.
- Collaboratively oversee classroom support staff including assigned teacher assistants
- Collect and analyze data to inform educational decision making.
- Participate in a variety of activities to support school and program operations including but not limited to faculty meetings professional development and family engagement activities.
- Abide by State statutes School Board policies and regulations
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law Division policy and administrative regulations
- Other duties as assigned through the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications:
Must currently hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher License in the area of Early Childhood Special Education.
Salary:
Range for the 2025-2026 school year is$53000 - $82843 with additional supplemental pay for a graduate degree. Fully licensed successful candidate eligible for $5000 signing incentive and a $5000 VRS qualified salary scale may be adjusted based on the 2026-2027 school board budget.
