Job Summary

General Accountability:

Reporting to the Chief Distribution Officer Hong Kong & Macau the Head of Distribution Strategy Office will be taking full ownership and accountability on formulating driving and delivering key Distribution strategic initiatives that transform and accelerate the expansion of Agency Force and distribution partners for Manulife Hong Kong and Macau. The incumbent will partner with business and functional leaders in Hong Kong & Macau as well as in regional office to articulate specific strategy for Distribution Office drive clearly defined distribution proposition and develop and execute plans with the objective to transform agency and distribution help realize our ambition to excel our Strategic Priorities.

The incumbent will champion and participate in all strategic tactical and digitalization initiatives of Distribution Office from conceptualization execution and drive adoption and acceptance. These strategic initiatives would include the emerging projects with significant business potential that are not yet carried out. Some key focuses are High Net Worth (HNW) strategy Mainland Elite Talent & Business Development GenAI-powered sales enablement tool cross-selling active agent ratio agent segmentation and agency compensation tactics.

This position will primarily work across business units or functions in Manulife in executing the strategic initiatives and will be fully accountable for driving transformation initiatives across agency force and distribution partners in order to support the wider goals strategy and ambition of Manulife Hong Kong & Macau business. Increasing the pace and agility of change and delivering measurable and sustainable results will be key measures of success.

This incumbent would need to have a thorough understanding on the business both internally in Manulife and also externally in the market including agency and distribution models competitive landscape product positioning data analytics regulatory requirements etc. This role reports to Chief Distribution Officer Hong Kong & Macau and works closely with other business units or functional team heads.

Responsibilities:

  • Full ownership and accountability on formulating driving and delivering key agency strategic initiatives that transform and accelerate the expansion of agency force and distribution partners for Manulife Hong Kong and Macau.
  • Partner with business and functional leaders in Hong Kong & Macau and in regional office to articulate specific segmented strategy for agency force and distribution partners drive clearly defined agency proposition and to develop and execute plans to transform agency and distribution and help realize our ambition.
  • Accountable for formulating driving and delivering key distribution strategic initiatives that transform and accelerate the expansion of agency force and distribution partners for Manulife Hong Kong and Macau.
  • Responsible for the development of distribution strategic initiatives for Manulife Hong Kong and Macau this role would have to stay on top of evolving market trends and competitive landscape and revisit the distribution strategies on an on-going basis drive discussion at Distribution management team and align initiatives and roadmap with related stakeholders to excel our strategic growth ambitions.
  • Formulate distribution strategies in line with corporate Strategic Priorities to accelerate the expansion of agency force and distribution partners based on different metrics. Leverage data analytics to design and augment strategies and initiatives.
  • Make forward-thinking recommendations to drive Distribution Office in excelling targets. Some of the key focuses include HNW strategy Mainland Elite talent and business development GenAI-powered sales enablement tool cross-selling active agent ratio agent segmentation and agency compensation tactics.
  • Partner closely with key stakeholder groups to deliver our organizational vision. Work with senior stakeholders within the organization to ensure alignment of Distribution strategy prioritization and strategic priorities to develop customer-centric proposition and solutions and to deliver effective business outcome with excellence.
  • Apply best practices to define governance structure staffing budgeting & cost management and processes of Distribution projects.
  • Contribute to the project and program plan development milestone setting as well as monitoring the teams progress against plans. Collaborate with other teams to develop campaigns for agency forces targeted segments.
  • Facilitate lead and create leadership communication deliverables including reports presentations and other outputs.
  • Be a change agent; help transform the agency force by focusing on organizational effectiveness improvement and people development.
  • Perform monthly business review meetings with business development teams/ related stakeholders and provide insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure clear targets and effective agency and distribution performance management processes are established with close stakeholder collaboration.
  • Provide regular result monitoring and pipeline tracking to ensure effective implementation of distribution strategies.
  • Annual strategic planning activities in respect of agency and distribution partners and ongoing performance tracking and data analytics. Fully accountable for the success of Distribution initiatives and their delivery on time scope and budget.
  • Provide guidance to team members to ensure that project focus is on target and work is accomplished timely and of the highest quality standards.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education:

  • University Degree with Financial/Actuarial designations or Project Management designations
  • At least 15 years of experience operating in a financial services environment
  • Previous background in insurance industry in particular distribution would be valuable
  • Excellent influence negotiation and presentation skills
  • Strategic and innovative thinking and comfort dealing with ambiguity and challenges
  • Execution focused and delivery excellence
  • Strong technical skills especially on financial issues coupled with the ability to write and present business cases and communicate financial performance effectively
  • Ability to think outside the box in order to generate and test new ideas
