Job Summary

As a Facilitator for YMCAs Back on Track program you will:

  • Build trust and create a welcoming environment for youth who are struggling to have a positive experience at school.
  • Help participants explore attitudes towards school identify motivators and set actionable goals before they return to school.
  • Create a supportive environment and be a caring adult for youth who are experiencing challenges such as trauma peer pressure negative self-image and require support for school and home challenges.
  • Deliver daily programming assisting youth to build confidence positive peer connections and skills.
  • Build relationships with school administrators and maintain regular communication with schools and families to support the students successful reintegration.
  • Coordinate referrals to community resources and ensure progress through consistent follow-up.
  • Represent the program to school administrators and community partners keeping Back on Track top of mind.

What were looking for:

  • Post-secondary education in Counseling Psychology Social Sciences or a related field plus 2 years working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution communication and building positive relationships.
  • The ability to remain calm and solution-focused in complex situations.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and engaging youth in meaningful activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office learning computer software and strong organizational skills.

Role details:

  • Location: Penticton BC
  • Schedule: 32 hours/week
  • Compensation: $24.91-$27.62 wage based on experience and credentials (with a 3.5% increase to hourly wage annually) plus a competitive YMCA benefits package including:

  • Provide 3 references of a professional nature (Ex. employer supervisor colleague teacher coach etc.)
