DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Executive Director Clinical Service Delivery the Site Director is accountable for all aspects of directing patient care delivery within the assigned site and service areas. The Site Director provides leadership in managing and implementing change and ensures an environment that supports both professional practice and alignment with Island Healths culture values and strategic direction.
The Site Director is responsible for inpatient and outpatient acute care nursing departments and clinics and as designated site administrator the Site Director facilitates the on-site services of other Island Health departments. They liaise with Program Managers and Directors of departments who provide services to the site to ensure a safe work environment and service commitments to the community and works in collaboration with Medical Staff on local medical staffing and quality issues. The Site Director collaborates with Foundations and Auxiliaries to facilitate their activities at the site and works in with outside agencies and partners with shared interests such as colleges and First Nations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Masters degree in a relevant health discipline and seven (7) to ten (10) years experience in operations leadership in a multi-site health care environment or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Appropriate certification license or professional designation. Experience in a cross-cultural context.
Skills And Abilities
- Excellent communication interpersonal skills problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability in the context of evolving needs and skills in negotiating creative solutions.
- Ability to integrate administrative professional and operational aspects of the service areas throughout the Vancouver Island Health Authority in an effective and efficient manner.
- Ability to develop and nurture an environment where quality improvement principles are embraced and used on a continuous basis.
- Strong management skills particularly in staff and budget areas.
- Ability to work effectively with staff physicians and community members.
