Job Description
We are seeking a motivated organized and service-oriented colleague to join our Customer Support team in Hong Kong as a Customer Support Specialist this role you will support Underwriters in Gards global marine insurance operations helping to ensure smooth processes and exceptional service for our clients and brokers.
Key responsibilites
- Maintain accurate records of clients brokers policies and premiums within the companys production systems ensuring all information is up to date and archived.
- Manage policy renewals and new business and end-to-end policy processing.
- Oversee cover maintenance including lay-ups trips value changes and additional premium calculations.
- Prepare and distribute insurance documentation and invoices and generate reports and analyses.
- Calculate and reconcile premium closings ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Conduct sanction checks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Underwriting team assisting with daily tasks and streamlining communication between departments to resolve issues efficiently.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries and build strong trust-based relationships with brokers clients and key stakeholders in the maritime industry.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelors degree in business administration maritime studies or a related field; alternatively substantial experience in marine insurance or the maritime/shipping industry.
- Strong attention to detail and a structured methodical approach to tasks.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure demonstrating initiative and a proactive self-driven mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel for data reports and premium calculations.
- Positive service-oriented attitude and excellent collaboration skills across diverse teams.
- Exceptional communication skills and cultural awareness essential for working in an international maritime environment.
- Customer-focused mindset ensuring high-quality service to clients and stakeholders.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills such as Cantonese Mandarin or Japanese are considered an advantage.
