Description of Work
Position performs journey duties in the installation maintenance and repair of air gas water and waste disposal systems. Routine work assignments are in the nature of location of needed repair and assignments involving work of special or unusual nature are accompanied by specific instructions. The incumbent exercises considerable independence in performance of routine work but unprecedented assignments are usually discussed with or supervised by a foreman. Work is reviewed by foreman through inspection of work in progress and on the basis of satisfactory operation of equipment repaired or installed.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Formerly known as Polk Correction Institution the facility opened in 1997 replacing the former Polk Youth Institution on Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh at the current site of the NC Museum of Art.

Management Preferences:
- Documented working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of plumbing systems.
Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the repair replacement or construction of piping systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
