Parkland Community Health Plan (PCHP) is seeking a locum to perm Medical Director who is dedicated and experienced specializing in Correctional Medicine.


Job Description:
The Medical Director for Correctional Health Services is responsible for providing clinical leadership medical oversight and administrative direction for Parkland s Correctional Health program. This role ensures the delivery of safe high quality patient centered care within the Dallas County jail system. The Medical Director works collaboratively with physician staff advanced practice providers nursing leadership Parkland administration and the Sheriff s Department to support clinical excellence regulatory compliance and program development.

Job Description:
  • Direct and coordinate all medical services for Correctional Health Services.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director of Behavioral Health Correctional Health to deliver effective integrated care.
  • Provide clinical oversight for women s health and adult health using written medical protocols and identifying quality issues.
  • Modify communication and care approaches to address sensory impairments and patient-specific needs including older adults.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the Sheriff s Department Parkland leadership vendors hospitals patients and families.
  • Provide input on developing revising and monitoring annual goals for Correctional Health aligned with Parkland s objectives.
  • Select train motivate supervise and evaluate provider staff to maximize performance and service quality.
  • Serve as supervising physician for advanced practice providers and consultant to nursing leadership.
  • Provide medical education and training for residents students and advanced practice providers.
  • Act as liaison between jail physicians and Parkland COPC HOMES program specialty clinics ER and inpatient services.
  • Maintain current knowledge of rules regulations laws and guidelines affecting Correctional Health operations.
  • Assist with development and implementation of medical-related procedures and policies for clinical staff.
  • Assist with orientation health education and health promotion program development.
  • Oversee the Associate Director of Performance Improvement and the correctional health quality management program.
  • Analyze job design workflows and processes and implement improvements for effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Support physician recruitment and lead retention initiatives for Correctional Health providers.
  • Maintain knowledge of medical advancements and incorporate new information into practice.
  • Model patient-centered physician practice emphasizing communication courtesy respect and clear explanations of care.
  • Work collaboratively across disciplines to help achieve Parkland leadership s goals.
Job Accountabilities:

  • Identify and analyze job designs workflows and processes implementing changes to improve efficiency and departmental effectiveness.
  • Stay current with developments trends and advancements in the field through seminars journals professional organizations and licensing.
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable laws regulations accreditation requirements and health plan guidelines.
  • Develop internal controls to ensure compliance with laws accreditation bodies and state/federal/private health plan requirements.
  • Develop and monitor annual departmental budgets to ensure adequate funding for goals and objectives.
  • Create implement and revise annual departmental goals and objectives aligned with Parkland s mission.
  • Select train schedule supervise and evaluate employees including recommending disciplinary actions up to termination.
  • Ensure employees receive opportunities for continued knowledge and professional development.

Requirement description : ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SHOULD BE NOTED IN ADDITIONAL SUBMISSION DETAILS. REQUIRED PRIOR TO CLIENT PRESENTATION UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED
  • Completion of an ACGME or AMA approved residency REQUIRED no exceptions
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience in clinical medicine programs REQUIRED no exceptions
  • Texas medical license (or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire) REQUIRED no exceptions
  • Meets all Medical Staff Bylaws Rules/Regulations and Credentialing Policy requirements REQUIRED
  • Correctional health experience PREFERRED
  • Clean malpractice/license history HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • Self-Query NPDB (Should be pulled within the month) - REQUIRED
  • Spanish language proficiency PREFERRED

  • Board Certified
  • Board Eligible
