Position Summary
The Clinical Research Analyst plays a central role in enabling collaborative neuroscience research at Krembil Brain Institute/Toronto Western Hospital serving as a key liaison between investigators clinical staff and hospital technicians. The position supports research activities conducted in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and the operating room with particular emphasis on coordinating complex clinical and surgical research workflows.
The successful candidate will oversee the planning coordination and execution of research studies focused on neuromodulation and invasive electrophysiological recordings ensuring seamless integration of research protocols within clinical care environments.
Duties
- Assists the study team in preparing the research environment (i.e. hospital EMU operating room) for conducting research activities as per protocol.
- Collaborates with the study team in recruiting study participants (e.g. identifies and screens potential subjects obtains informed consent and administers questionnaires or other data collection tools).
- Coordinates necessary data flow both internally and externally with collaborators.
- Plans designs and organizes study database (e.g. Excel REDCap).
- Collects study data from participants or other sources to support clinical and study-related decision-making using pre-defined data collection tools as per the approved study protocol and authorized access.
- Prepares submissions and amendments to the Research Ethics Board (REB) and contracts office.
Qualifications :
- Completed BSc in health/life sciences is required. MSc is an asset.
- 1 to 2 years of research experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
- 1 to 2 years clinical experience is required.
- In-depth knowledge of fundamental neuroscience theory and principles is an asset.
- A general understanding of neurological conditions encompassing their pathophysiology diagnosis and treatment modalities is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in handling complex datasets and trial database management (e.g. REDCap Medidata).
- Excellent competency in written and verbal communication.
