As an integral member of the Laboratory management team the SUPERVISOR CLINICAL LABORATORY is responsible for maintaining primary responsibility for the daily operation of the laboratory including: directly supervising assigned laboratory personnel;; facilitating access to educational programs by assigned personnel; maintaining professional development of self; assisting in the development implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures of the Clinical Laboratory in consultation with the Medical Director and Laboratory Manager; ensuring adherence to Hospital policies and procedures within the laboratory; assisting with the preparation of budgets; maintaining responsibility for laboratory equipment and products; observing Hospital and departmental policies and procedures; adhering to Hospital and departmental mission and value statements while maintaining patient confidentiality; performing cross-functional responsibilities as required; performing other related duties consistent with the job classification as required.


Qualifications :

  • Completion of a three (3) year community college program or a Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Technologist required.
  • Bachelors degree in Business/Health Administration or a recognized equivalent required.
  • Certification with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologist of Ontario (CMLTO) required.
  • At minimum five (5) years of practical and related experience and/or on-the-job training required.
  • Two (2) years supervisory (formal or informal) experience in a laboratory setting required.
  • Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills ability to organize work and set priorities for self and others.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and team leader.
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuing education.
  • Experience in preparing for Accreditation Canada Diagnostics assessments.
  • Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
