Technical Business Analyst API & Microservices

Location: Toronto ON (Hybrid)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst with strong experience in REST APIs microservices and enterprise integrations. This role will work closely with architecture engineering QA and product teams to define document and support API-driven solutions within a Java-based microservices ecosystem.

This is a hands-on API-focused BSA role not a development position.

Key Responsibilities

Gather analyze and document business and technical requirements for RESTful APIs and system integrations
Translate business requirements into detailed API specifications including:

Payload definitions (JSON/XML)
Data mapping
Error handling scenarios
Acceptance criteria

Produce and maintain Swagger/OpenAPI documentation
Collaborate with architects and developers in a Java microservices environment
Participate in design discussions impact analysis and integration workflow definition
Support API lifecycle activities including testing validation and defect resolution
Maintain API documentation use cases interface contracts and integration artifacts
Work within Agile (Scrum/SAFe) delivery teams

Required Experience

810 years of overall IT experience
35 years as a Technical Business Analyst / Business Systems Analyst
Strong hands-on experience with:

REST APIs
Microservices architecture
JSON and XML
Integration patterns

Experience creating and managing Swagger/OpenAPI specifications
Working knowledge of Postman or similar API testing tools
Experience working with development teams in a Java-based environment
Solid experience in Agile (Scrum or SAFe)
