This is an exciting role at the heart of the Data & Analytics Transformation (DAT) Directorate heading up the Data Strategy Implementation Division (DSID).

It is an exciting time to work in DAT as we deliver the Banks Data & Analytics (D&A) Strategy including moving the Banks data and running its analytical processes on the cloud strengthening how we acquire and share data externally rolling out artificial intelligence tools and delivering a data literacy agenda for all roles. You will be joining DATs Leadership Team which has a collaborative and inclusive culture and drives change at pace for the good of the Bank as a whole.

Data Strategy Implementation Division (DSID)

Almost everything the Bank does depends on the effective use of data and analytics (D&A). DATs role is to help the Bank make the best use of D&A to fulfil its mission which is in large part defined and delivered by the Data Strategy Implementation Division (DSID). DSID also directly enable colleagues to use data by providing many of the central D&A tools platforms services training and specialist support.

DSID is formed of five teams:

  • The Analytics Enablement Hub (AEH) provides the Bankwide analytics strategy. It supports colleagues realise the potential of our data and to make effective use of the analytical tools and platforms available to them.
  • The Data Management Hub (DMH) focuses on the development execution and governance of policies and practices to deliver control protect and enhance the value of the Banks data. It supports colleagues to better manage their data assets.
  • The Skills and Culture Hub (SCH)has an objective to close D&A skills gaps and to transform the Banks D&A culture. It does this through upskilling nurturing a collaborative culture connecting users across the Bank to the services they need.
  • The Strategy Implementation Framework (SIF) team designs and implements and a delivery framework to support teams across D&A to more effectively deliver improved D&A outcomes.
  • The User Centred Service Design (UCSD) team creates and optimises user-centric services products and experiences to ensure they meet the needs and expectations of users while aligning with the organisations objectives.

The nature of the work makes DSID a home to many different skillsets including data scientists data governance experts communications professionals skills and training leads and delivery managers. The division comprises around 50 staff and is responsible for provision of a number of Bankwide services.

Responsibilities

Leadership

This is a significant leadership role. The successful applicantwill be responsible for day-to-day leadership of the DSID senior management team and of DSID more broadly as well as working closely with the rest of the DAT Leadership Team to run the wider directorate.

The Head of DSID line manages the senior managers of the division directly and through them around 50 staff across the division. Alongside overseeing the continued running and improvement of our central data and analytics products and services this leadership role also includes supporting the division through a time of rapid and exciting change requiring significant will develop your team through sharing information effectively coaching and through communicating a clear vision to ensure that DSID colleagues are engaged effective and motivated to deliver the areas aims. This will include setting clear goals and stretching objectives that are aligned to those of the directorate and the wider Bank.

You will be part of the DAT Leadership Team (DAT LT) which collectively sets the directorates strategy and is responsible for its implementation. DAT LT has a focus on promoting the wellbeing of staff across DAT and ensuring the directorate a diverse inclusive and empowering place to work. DAT HoDs are expected to lead by example create opportunities and space for themselves and their divisions to contribute to the Banks inclusion agenda.

It is a particularly exciting time to be a HoD in DAT given the Banks recently updated D&A Strategy andDSID is central to that work. The Head of DSID will need to work with DATs Leadership Team with DSID colleagues and with other stakeholders to ensure that DSID continues to work effectively with the other divisions in DAT and with key stakeholders across the Bank as we implement the D&A strategy. There are opportunities to consider how DSID works most effectively with the rest of DAT and other areas of the may include changes to the structure and remit of DSID which will require the successful candidate to be adaptable flexible and able to lead others through periods of change.

Role Requirements

EssentialCriteria

  • Excellent leadership skills experience building strategic direction and developing effective teams.
  • Strong expertise in shaping and leading implementation of an enterprise-wide data and analytics strategy leveraging industry-standard data governance approaches and with hands-on experience in modern data technologies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence business decisions to senior level with a proven ability to handle a highly complex matrix of stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience overseeing change with proven ability to demonstrate adaptability and flexibility and leading others through periods of change.
  • Ability to collaborate with others to achieve organisation-wide objectives including through complex change programmes.
  • Experience of having implemented effective inclusion initiatives to build a diverse and resilient team.

Desirable Criteria

  • Awareness of the Banks Data & Analytics Strategy.
  • Experience of working in or with a public sector organisation to implement an ambitious data and analytics strategy.
