Maccess
aims to build and maintain a campus that celebrates advocates and ensures inclusiveness in the area of disability. We provide programming and events in an effort to
establish a sense of community for those that self-identify as having disabilities or as addition Maccess strives to advocate on the behalf of students in a proactive and affirmative fashion and provide educational programming on and opportunities to learn about critical disability studies.
The Volunteer & Training Coordinator will be responsible for organizing the recruitment of new volunteers as well as the scheduling and coordination of volunteers and executives. The Volunteer & Training Coordinator will work with the Maccess Assistant Director to create a supportive community of volunteers who will help facilitate maintain and advertise the Maccess space social events workshops and campaigns. The Volunteer & Training Coordinator will also coordinate with executive members well in advance of events and campaigns to organize volunteers in a thoughtful and resourceful way. The Volunteer & Training Coordinator will work with the Maccess Assistant Director and the MSUs Training Resources Research Assistant to design and facilitate training for Maccess volunteers.

- Most work can be completed in a shared office space

- Previous Leadership Experience
- Necessary training will be provided

Major Responsibilities
Volunteer Management Function
- Work with various executives to coordinate volunteers for workshops social events campaigns and Maccess space shifts
- Actively engage with Maccess volunteers to both maintain a sense of community and reflect on the operation of the space
- Schedule all volunteer shifts for both in-person and online peer support as well as for any events or campaigns being carried out by Maccess
when necessary
- Plan one volunteer social per semester
Recruitment and Training Function
- Work with the Maccess
Assistant Director to design and facilitate
specialized training for all Maccess volunteers once a semester
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to organize training for volunteers and executives when appropriate
- Work with the Maccess
Assistant Director to interview and recruit volunteers
- Create and evaluate assignments for volunteers who do not attend trainings
- Ensure volunteers who have missed trainings submit make-up assignments
- Work with external partners to assist in training of Maccess Volunteers
Communications Function
- Consult with the Assistant Director and the Resources Executive
in the design of volunteer training
- Respond to general inquiries
- Maintain strong communication with the Maccess
Director fellow executives and volunteers
Other
- Other duties as assigned by the Maccess
Director
- Provide feedback on the service
- Attend executive meetings as scheduled
- Be an active member of the Maccess community through attending events maintaining an online presence etc.
- Be available for peer support shift coverage
- Provide transition for the incoming Training and Volunteer Coordinator
