Job Summary

The Specialist Inclusion and Belonging will provide support to the Senior Lead Strategic Advisor and Equity Diversity and Inclusion in meeting the goals objectives and deliverables of Oslers Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) work and portfolio.

The Specialist will act as a subject matter expert on EDI related topics and provide support to staff leaders learners and volunteers as needed (e.g. facilitating workshops creating content organizing meeting planning events connecting to resources and data).  The Specialist will -

  • To advance equity diversity inclusion and belonging principles at Osler among its workforce.
  • To provide support to the Senior Lead Strategic Advisor and Equity Diversity and Inclusion- Inclusion and Belonging Team in meeting the goals objectives and deliverables of Oslers Inclusion and Belonging Teams work and portfolio.
  • Support the advancement of key EDIB priorities aligned with Oslers 2024-2029 Strategic Plan Going Beyond for People and Communities and Oslers Values of Respect Excellence Service Compassion Innovation and Collaboration.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Delivering EDI workshop content as needed for staff leaders departments and physicians at various forums (i.e. HR huddles People Services Quarterly meetings townhalls team events)
  • Conducting research on emerging trends an best practices in EDIB principles and social justice in health care settings and the workplace
  • Developing practical tools and resources to support staffs EDIB learning pages guides micro-learning presentations
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on EDIB related topics for staff departments and programs in addressing EDIB issues and implementing best practices based on evidence
  • Supporting the employee resource groups and the Senior Lead Strategic Advisor EDI e.g. scheduling coordinating and facilitating meetings content for speaking notes briefs presentations and workshops.  
  •  Creating communication materials (i.e. e-blasts memos and other communication media.)
  • Collaborating with staff and teams within People Services and other teams and networks within Osler (i.e. the Patient Experience Office-Health Justice Team the Indigenous Ceremonies Working Group and Osler Research Institute for Health Innovation (ORIHI) to create inclusive and respectful workplace in alignment with the Strategic Plan and Oslers Mission Vision and Values.
  • Develop partnerships with external organizations (i.e. Black Health and Social Services Hub- Peel and other healthcare systems and groups (i.e. the Provincial EDI Healthcare Network) to foster collaboration knowledge exchange and building integrated networks.
  • Coordinating activities and projects led by the Inclusion and Belonging team
  • Identifying staff leaders and teams and departments for collaboration and to provide support on EDIB topics and creating an inclusive workplace. Gather insights to inform tailored solutions.

Qualifications :

  • College Diploma in Social Service Worker Social Justice Project Management Program.
  • Bachelors degree in social work equity studies health studies a related degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Master degree in Social Work Equity Studies Women Studies Health Sciences Psychology Political Science Education or related degree.  Also an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred
  • Change Management Professional certification preferred
  • Social Justice certification preferred
  • Equity Diversity and Inclusion certificate preferred
  • Minimum three (3) or more years of related experience in delivering programming with an in-depth understanding of complex and intersectional issues related to equity diversity inclusion and belonging in a healthcare (hospital community health centre etc) setting or other complex organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of the social drivers of health is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in resource development design and delivery adult learning principles group facilitation assessment and evaluation techniques for diverse staffing group.
  • Experience developing strategic plans workplans and report writing is strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing and implementation evaluation tools; creating metrics identifying outcomes deliverables and monitoring results.
  • Experience developing content and resources for diverse staffing groups (e.g. leadership managers clinical staff)
  • Experience leading presentations on EDIB to diverse audiences e.g. corporate orientation workshops.
  • Experience in the health sector knowledge of barriers to health care and health inequities/disparities for racialized and marginalized populations
  • Experience working in social services or community
  • Experience facilitating workshops on EDI related topics to diverse audiences
  • Experience creating content and developing EDI resource material
  • Experience in researching topics and trends related to EDI
  • Experience and qualifications in senior coordination and/or project management preferred
  • Experience in event planning and coordination.
  • Excellent Knowledge of EDIB anti-racist anti-oppression principles theories concepts and sensitivities in relation to health equity and equity deserving groups.
  • Efficiency with the Microsoft platform i.e. Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook Teams
  • Familiarity with online platforms and tools (i.e. Menti Canva)
  • An understanding of the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) is an asset.
  • Significant training and experience in equity diversity inclusion preferred
  • Significant training and experience in project management
  • Significant training and experience in data collection analysis and research (health equity)
  • Communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent knowledge of EDI principles concepts and sensitivities in relation to health equity/high risk populations
  • Experience with analysis research and interpretation of data related to inequities and disparities in health care an advantage
  • Knowledge of consultation client service and relationship management (clinical and non-clinical)
  • Experience with preparing and delivering presentations
  • Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office tools including Teams PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to adjust priorities to support the work of the Senior Lead and partners as needed
  • Meeting deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Must demonstrate Oslers Values of Respect Excellence Service Compassion Innovation and Collaboration

Additional Information :

Hours: Currently days in a hybrid role that function remotely but requires essential regular onsite weekly work (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Salary:
Minimum: $72189.00
Maximum: $90246.00
