Job Summary

Job Title: College and Career Advisor Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to: Director of CCMR & Post Secondary Pay Grade: Admin Pay 3

Dept. /School: Permian High or Odessa High Days: 207

Supervises:

Primary Purpose: To coordinate efforts with area college & university staff to promote a positive understanding and build relationships between ECISD Students parents and the community. To assist in optimizing student preparation application and entrance into higher education institution post high school graduation. To assist in distributing pertinent information to high school and middle school students and their parents regarding postinstitution inquiry.
Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in the area of counseling or related field.

Special Knowledge Skills:

Experience:

  • Three years of experience with high school college and university preparation planning application and operations preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collaborate with ECISD officials to establish specific procedures to ensure students receive adequate information on developing their skills for post-secondary institutions.
  • Serve as the campus coordinator of college/university information system provision to the students.
  • Work closely with Odessa College The University of Texas of the Permian Basin and Midland College to link students with our area institutions and work force needs in our community.
  • Coordinate the acquisition of necessary student data (i.e. student interests EOC and other related information) and to evaluate students interests and capabilities.
  • Coordinate and establish a system in which students and their parents can be provided with assistance for college preparation application and entrance.
  • Employ effective interpersonal skills.
  • Assist in designing projects for implementing innovations to promote successful graduation and post-secondary entrance.
  • Maintain a good understanding of testing operations for PSAT ACT SAT TSI
  • Assists students and parents in the preparation of financial aid including FASFA TASFA grants and scholarships.
  • Assist students and parents in registration of dual enrollment courses.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with ECISD Coordinators of Post-Secondary Advising & Assessment and counselors and staff to enhance the students understanding of the importance of academic success in their future.
  • Support other district departments in the recruitment and orientation of potential students for higher educational institutions.

  • Support students through motivational programs which enhance student achievement.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other departmental officials and community organizations (i.e. The Education Foundation) in promoting community support for higher learning institutions.
  • Observe professional and ethical standards in accordance with generally accepted community standards the Texas Education Agency code of ethics.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned or as may be necessary for job effectiveness.
  • Assist Coordinator of Post-Secondary Advising & Assessment in facilitating campus PLC meetings to improve CCMR and TSI readiness to improve overall post-secondary outcomes for all students
