For over 40 years Womens Legal Service Victoria (Womens Legal) has championed womens rights to live free from violence. We are a dedicated team with a passion for working with women and non-binary people to live free from violence and discrimination by:

  • Providing high quality integrated legal services for Victorian women and non-binary people who are victim-survivors of family violence and disadvantagedor marginalised by structural and systemic barriers.
  • Building the capacity of professionals who work with women and non-binary people to better understandthe law and navigate the legal system safely.
  • Advancing gender equality by challenging unsafe and discriminatory policies andlaws and informing and advocating for legal and policy initiatives that respect andpromote the rights of women and non-binary people.

About the Role

The Manager People & Culture will take ownership of the people and culture function at Womens Legal providing strategic advice developing and implementing P&C initiatives managing policies/procedures and delivering high quality service to a diverse workforce. With the HR Officer you will form a strong People and Culture team supporting managers and the broader team across the employee lifecycle.

  • Manage the provision of a high-quality HR function including all aspects of the employee lifecycle compliance and regulatory matters
  • Manage a high quality best practice recruitment process including position description creation promotion of opportunities selection and appointment
  • Support and advise staff and managers of requirements related to employee relations modern awards and/or legal requirements surrounding Fair Work to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Support compliance with OH&S and other external requirements
  • Develop and implement the Workforce Development Plan to prioritise function improvements and develop our workforce to meet organisational needs
  • Maintain and develop HR policies procedures and practices including ensuring compliance with legislation

About You

You are passionate about fostering a high-performance culture and driving positive change in a not-for-profit environment genuinely caring about peoples wellbeing and growth. You stay up to date on best practice HR functions across the employee lifecycle so that the way we work and the service we provide continues to be best practice. You have a strong interest in fostering a diverse workforce with a strong positive culture.

You have experience in general people and culture management ideally working with the SCHADS award. You take ownership of initiatives propose solutions and enjoy working with a broad range of team members to find the best way to proceed. Youre naturally collaborative and have strong skills in advising and providing counsel to staff at all levels. You are super organised with great time management skills.

Key to your success is your:

  • Knowledge of contemporary HR practices including recruitment and selection performance management employee relations learning and development workforce and succession planning and OH&S
  • Experience developing and implementing people and culture programs and initiatives especially in workforce development
  • Strong skills in ER/IR including knowledge and interpretations of modern awards ideally the SCHADS award
  • Expertise in developing and maintaining HR systems and processes ideally using Employment Hero

You will have:

  • Experience in a People and Culture generalist role supporting the full employee lifecycle as well as planning and compliance
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation (desirable)
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
