The appointeewill monitor the welfare of laboratory animals and keep track of researchers compliance with animal ethics committee guidelines approved protocols local legislation codes of practice and AAALAC International standards. He/She will also inspect animal facilities and research laboratories;provide advice support education and training for researchers and animal care staff;and assist in protocol and safety reviews. Previousexperience and/or knowledge of research animal welfare practices and experimental design principlesare essential. Workinghours areflexibleand negotiable to accommodate the right candidate.

Qualifications and Qualities

Applicants shouldpossessa Bachelors degree or above in Veterinary Medicine which is registrable under the Hong Kong Veterinary Surgeons Registration Ordinancewith at least8years relevant experience inveterinary practice andin a researchanimalsetting. They should also be able to work independently demonstrate initiative and sound judgement and possess goodinterpersonal communication and computer skills.
