Job Description
Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine seeks a detail-oriented service-minded Academic Operations Assistant to provide coordinated support across Phase 1 of the curriculum specifically in the domains of Research Integrated Foundational Sciences (IFS) Clinical Science and Health Systems Science and Interprofessional Practice. Reporting to the Phase 1 Director this role keeps courses assessments and events running smoothly from multi-room presentations and clinical skills sessions to Canvas updates calendars data tracking and faculty/staff support.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated organizational logistics and customer-service skills supporting time-sensitive academic activities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel; ability to learn/use Canvas One45 Teams and HokieMart.
Detail orientation for data entry tracking and document management; clear and professional communication.
Ability to provide on-site support during fixed blocks and peak assessment/presentation times.
Ability to move and set up tables/equipment safely; basic A/V troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a classroom/education environment supporting or managing courses events or assessments. Retired or former K-12 teachers strongly encouraged to apply.
Familiarity with QR-based attendance workflows and editing/posting lecture recordings.
Experience coordinating simultaneous multi-room sessions and stakeholder communications.
Knowledge of accessibility best practices for Word/PDF classroom materials.
