Summary of the Position:
The Benefits Director will be responsible for developing managing and executing the overall strategy for employee benefits in the United States including retirement healthcare wellness and leave policies. This includes collaborating with internal and external partners on administration communications and compliance of our benefits plans. The successful candidate will be able to effectively engage with all levels of the organization including leadership and provide support to the global HR team on benefits related matters as needed.
This position will be based out of our New York City headquarters at Rockefeller Center and will report to the Managing Director of Human Capital Management responsible for corporate HCM functions. This position will manage one HCM team member responsible for disability and leave policy administration.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing and executing the overall strategy for employee benefits in the US
Accountable for ensuring financial sustainability of all benefits plans
Utilize data-driven insights to shape the evolution of benefits plans
Ensure competitiveness of benefits programs across a variety of industries (real estate investment management hospitality) to gauge market competitiveness
Collaborate with existing external consultants and broker partners to manage retirement and health & welfare plans
Proactively stay up to date with legislation and other events impacting employee benefits
Manage and monitor the performance of external vendors (administrators insurers consultants etc.)
Be an internal advocate for wellness initiatives
Directly manage and provide guidance and support for disability and leave team
Manage employee communications around benefits in partnership with internal and external partners
Responsible for benefits administration responding to employee questions etc.
Manage the Annual Enrollment process in partnership with the HRIS team
Ability to quickly learn about new markets and set up appropriate benefits programs in new countries as needed
Take an active role in managing 401(k) committee meetings and timelines
Responsible for day-to-day administration reporting compliance and inquiries regarding the 401(k) plan
Manage the annual 401(k) compliance testing annual audit and form 5500 processing in partnership with the accounting team and external partners
Partner with other internal departments (Legal Finance Risk etc.) to build new programs manage risk and understand legal implications to policy or design changes
Skills & Qualifications:
7-10 years of experience in employee benefits administration and management.
Well versed in the administration of both retirement (defined contribution) and healthcare.
Ability to effectively advise key internal stakeholders including the Global Head of Human Capital and the Chief Financial Officer on benefits related matters.
Stays current with federal and local legislation impacting benefits programs
Ability to handle issues both strategically and tactically
Demonstrated problem solving and strong analytical skills
Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to clearly explain complex topics across the organization
The base compensation range for this role is $145000 to 175000. This role is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus as well as access to our comprehensive medical dental and vision insurance life and disability insurance 401(k) plan (with matching contributions) wellness benefits and all other benefits afforded to full-time Tishman Speyer employees. This base range reflects a number of factors including but not limited to relevant experience skill sets and/or licensure required of an individual in this particular role. The base range is also specific to members of Tishman Speyers New York team as weve considered factors specific to this geography.
