The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) works collaboratively to improve the quality of patient care and promote desired patient outcomes in a designated population/specialty practice. The CNS functions as a leader within the three spheres of influence (Patient/Client Nurses and Nursing Practice Organization/System) and is an active participant in the nursing leadership team.
A Masters degree in nursing with a Clinical Nurse Specialist focus is required. A Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree is preferred.
Experience as a CNS is preferred.
Five years of successful work experience in nursing with two years in the specialty area preferred.
Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient needs and CNS workload.
As a condition of employment individuals working with addictions services must be free from problematic substance use for a minimum of the immediately preceding two years at time of hire.
Licensure/Certification
Current MN RN license required.
Current MN APRN CNS license required.
Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association Red Cross or the Military Training Network.
