This is a permanent full-time position.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Prepare and support Council and Committee meetings including agendas minutes resolutions and procedural advice with attendance at meetings as required (including out of hours).
  • Provide governance advice and support to Elected Members and staff including civic events delegations management and implementation of Councils policy framework.
  • Monitor legislative and compliance obligations by tracking legal advice legislative changes confidential items and conducting self-audits under the Local Government Act and related legislation.
  • Draft and maintain high-quality governance documentation including policies procedures templates registers and statutory returns (e.g. Grants Commission).
  • Undertake reviews FOI processes and governance projects including improvement andstrengthening systems processes and organisational governance capability.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or comparable experience in Business Administration.
  • Accreditation as a Freedom of Information Officer is desirable.
  • Experience as a Governance Officer or similar role.
  • Experience in Local Government is highly desirable.
  • Sound understanding of good governance principles and practices.
  • Knowledge concerning local Government context and Public Officer responsibilities.
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good ICT skills and ability to troubleshoot basic ICT issues.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and manage own workload and project work.
