This is a permanent full-time position.

This role will support the organisation to achieve best practice in Civic Governance by being a member of the Governance team that ensures governance practices are well planned transparent and reliable and providing exceptional support to our Elected Body.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Coordinate and support Council and Committee meetings including preparation and distribution of agendas minutes briefings and councils resolutions database with attendance as required (including out of hours).
  • Provide governance and administrative support to Elected Members and the Mayor including assistance with civic events and civic governance advice.
  • Maintain and manage Council governance registers including interests gifts and benefits conflicts of interest and delegations .
  • Maintain governance information and records including intranet and website content policy registers corporate records and governance templates to support transparency and accessibility.
  • Monitor governance tasks and workflows ensuring timely action compliance and effective distribution of sub-delegations and authorisations.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or comparable experience Business Administration.
  • Accreditation as a Freedom of Information Officer is desirable.
  • Experience as a Governance Officer or similar role.
  • Experience in Local Government is highly desirable.
  • Sound understanding of good governance principles and practices.
  • Knowledge concerning local Government context and Public Officer responsibilities.
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good ICT skills and ability to troubleshoot basic ICT issues.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and manage own workload and project work.
