Overview
North Atlanta Dermatology an affiliate of Anne Arundel Dermatology is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant (Float) to support our outpatient dermatology clinics across multiple North Atlanta locations. This role is ideal for a flexible adaptable Medical Assistant who enjoys variety working with different providers and supporting clinics where coverage is needed.
Position Overview
The Medical Assistant Float will assist Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers with patient care and in-office dermatology procedures while traveling between our Duluth Suwanee Buford Cumming and Marietta offices as needed. Travel to all five locations is required.
Schedule: Monday - Thursday (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) Fridays (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)

Responsibilities
- Room patients and complete accurate clinical intake and documentation
- Obtain and record vital signs and relevant patient information
- Support efficient patient flow throughout the clinic
- Prepare procedure rooms trays instruments and equipment according to provider specifications
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during medical and surgical dermatology procedures
- Draw up medications and assist with the administration of local anesthetics
- Prepare label and route pathology and laboratory specimens to the appropriate lab based on patient insurance requirements
- Respond to patient questions in person and by phone in accordance with provider guidance
- Review and address clinical task lists nurse line messages phone messages faxes and interdepartmental communications in a timely manner
- Accurately document patient encounters and scribe provider notes in the EMR
- Clean sterilize calibrate and maintain medical instruments and equipment according to established schedules maintaining required documentation
- Manage medication and clinical supplies including ordering stocking inventory tracking and removal of expired items
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure exam rooms supply rooms and cabinets are fully stocked and organized
- Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support clinic operations
Qualifications
- Ability to triage patient concerns and communicate findings appropriately to providers
- Working knowledge of OSHA HIPAA infection control and Bloodborne Pathogen standards
- Experience obtaining and recording vital signs and preparing patients for clinical visits
- Experience administering injections and assisting with in-office procedures
- Understanding of medical terminology CPT and ICD-10 codes
- Familiarity with office financial policies and insurance-related processes
- Basic computer proficiency with experience using EMR systems
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including computers scanners copiers and fax machines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English required
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced high-volume clinical environment
- Demonstrated ability to work professionally and collaboratively with providers staff patients and visitors
- Ability to multitask prioritize responsibilities and work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions with attention to detail
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to satellite offices as needed
Licensure/Certifications/Education
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required
Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred (CMA)
Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or a bachelors degree in a pre-med or pre-PA track preferred
CPR certification preferred
One to two years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant CNA or in a clinical patient care role preferred
Prior dermatology experience preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
Frequent bending twisting reaching balancing and use of hands and fingers
Ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone
Ability to handle clinical materials instruments and supplies
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
Exposure to infectious organisms and potential hazards including chemicals and sharp instruments in a clinical environment
