The Deputy Executive Director of Strategy and Development is a key member of the Airports executive leadership team and serves as a critical partner to the Executive Director in advancing the Airports long-term planning development and strategic objectives. This position provides executive-level oversight of airport planning design construction environmental compliance sustainability initiatives and complex capital programs essential to the Airports operational financial and regulatory success.

The Deputy Executive Director leads and coordinates major airport planning efforts including the Airport Master Plan Airport Layout Plan Capital Improvement Program and sustainability and environmental programs while ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements and applicable federal state and local regulations. Responsibilities include overseeing multi-disciplinary capital and maintenance projects from planning and design through construction and close-out; managing grants and funding programs; guiding environmental systems and regulatory permitting; and supporting initiatives to optimize airport property development and revenue generation.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced strategic leader with a strong background in environmental compliance and sustainability within complex highly regulated environments such as airports or large public infrastructure organizations. This individual brings a comprehensive understanding of FAA environmental requirements federal state and local regulatory frameworks and best practices related to aviation-related environmental impacts including water quality land use air quality noise and habitat considerations.

The successful candidate has demonstrated experience developing and implementing sustainability initiatives that are integrated into airport master planning capital improvement programs and day-to-day operations. They are adept at aligning environmental stewardship with operational efficiency financial responsibility and long-term organizational goals and have a proven ability to balance regulatory compliance with project delivery funding constraints and stakeholder expectations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Certification
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university

Experience
  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in project management airport planning public agency capital programs or public grants management; and
  • Five (5) years of supervisory or management experience
