About the Role
Join our maternity team at Health New Zealand I Te Whatu Ora Southern at a key time of change where you will meaningfully contribute to our kaupapa of providing a safe and positive childbearing experience to all expectant pregnant people in our region.
As the Midwife Manager you will lead and support the Maternity Unit in Invercargill providing clinical and operational leadership to ensure the service is responsive to the changing needs of our community and health system.

Here at Southland Hospital we operate an 18-bed integrated unit handling approximately 1200 births a year as part of a full range of primary and secondary maternity services. As the only secondary birthing unit in Southland we offer inpatient and outpatient antenatal delivery and postnatal services and a Lactation Consultancy Service. Our brand of care and compassion involves a very special blend of strength compassion and cool headedness from our midwives who welcome our babies into the world.
Southern Midwifery support a very diverse maternity community spread across the region providing care to whānau in urban rural and remote areas of Southern region. To achieve our maternity and broader population goals we work in partnership with Iwi primary care and community providers rural trust hospitals and education and research partners across the district.

Salary range
This role falls under the terms and conditions of the MERAS Midwives Collective Agreement (1 February 2024 30 April 2025) and falls between the step 1 ($132397p.a prorata) and Step 3 ($142182 p.a prorata) of the Designated Senior Midwife Salary Scale - Grade 7.
