The Role:

General Motors is undergoing a major transformation both in how weoperateand in how we will influence the future of transportation in the EV realm. Our Software Services team is on the forefront of this work emboldening our culture by seeking out determined innovative individuals who will join our team to help move us forward and achieve our mission.

We areseekinga detail-oriented and proactive Procurement and Inventory Specialist to support the Software Development and Integration (SDI) Lab and vehicle development fleet. This role is critical to ensuring thetimelydelivery cost-effectiveness acquisition and tracking of automotive-grade components materials and services that support vehicle development and testing operations.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in procurement within the automotive industry complemented by excellent analytical and organizational skills. A keen attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams lab operations and supplier networks are essential for thriving in this role.

WhatYoullDo(Key Responsibilities):

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Source andprocureautomotive-grade materials components and services from approved vendors.

  • Negotiate contracts pricing and delivery terms tooptimizecost quality and performance.

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with lab and organizational goals.

  • Identifyand leadcost-saving initiatives and process improvements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with engineering lab operations fleet and quality teams to understand technical requirements and ensure supplier compliance.

  • Support new product launches and prototype builds by coordinating procurement activities and timelines.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to forecast demand and manage delivery schedules.

Order & Inventory Management

  • Initiate and manage work orders and shopping carts for parts tools and lab materials.

  • Ensure procurement requests are accurately documented andsubmittedthroughappropriate channels.

  • Track order status and resolve delays or discrepancies with suppliers or stakeholders.

  • Implement and manage an inventory system to track tools equipment and parts across lab operations.

  • Maintainaccuraterecords of purchases pricing and inventory to ensure alignment with project schedules and budgets.

  • Proficient in inventory management systems with a focus onmaintainingaccuratelab stock levels.

  • Evaluate incoming orders for technical feasibility and ensure alignment with engineering specifications and projectobjectives.

Purchase Order (PO) Issuance

  • Manage end-to-end purchase order processes from creation to delivery byleveragingprocurement platforms such aseSAPandeMERGEto ensuretimelysupplier follow-up and effective issue resolution.

  • Ensure all orderscontainprecise specifications and clearly defined delivery requirements to supportaccurateandtimelyfulfillment.

Order Fulfillment & Logistics

  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensuretimelydelivery of goods and services per PO terms.

  • Monitor delivery performance andlogisticsthrough integrated tracking systems.

  • Collaborate with the engineering and lab operations teams to coordinate global material shipments.

Quality Assurance Compliance Invoice & Payment

  • Oversee inspection of incoming materials to ensure quality standards are met.

  • Review and approve supplier invoicessubmittedthrough GMs financial systems.

  • Ensure payments are processed accurately andtimely aligned with delivery verification and contract terms.

Supplier Oversight & Compliance

  • Continuouslymonitorsupplier performance conduct audits and implement corrective actions for issues related to delivery quality or compliance.

  • Stay current on automotive industry trends supplier innovations and evolving regulatory requirements.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Business or relatedfield.

  • 35 years of procurement experience preferably in the automotive industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of automotive components materials and supplier ecosystems.

  • Proficient in procurement and ticketing systems includingeSAPandeMERGE with strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent negotiation communication and analytical skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with automotive quality standards and compliance requirements.

  • Understanding ofvehicle development lifecycle including key milestones and supplier integration.

  • This is amanufacturing/productionenvironment.Must be physically capable of lifting 25-30lbs.

  • Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience is preferred.

  • Proficient in Jira and Confluence for issue tracking project collaboration and knowledge sharing.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to supportaccurateprocurement and supplier communication.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration with Engineering Quality and Logistics teams to align procurement activities with lab development goals and ensure seamless execution.

  • Familiarity with automotive software tools used in development testing and debugging (e.g. CANalyzer INCA Vector Intrepid tools).
