Burlington High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated professional to join our Student Support Team. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about building meaningful relationships and supporting student success.
The Student Support Associate is a school-year salaried position that reports directly to the Principal. This position plays a vital role in fostering a positive inclusive school climate by promoting strong relationships and implementing restorative practices that help students stay engaged in their collaboratively with assistant principals teachers and other school personnel the Student Support Associate will use a team-based approach to support students experiencing challenges with attendance engagement and connection to school. The successful candidate will be committed to collaboration student advocacy and creating supportive pathways that help all students thrive.
Essential Functions
Support student attendance and engagement by assisting with timely arrival to class remaining in class and supervision of hallways and common areas.
Assist the Student Support Team administrators and staff with supervision and student flow during passing periods.
Provide campus supervision including library study hall cafeteria and In-School Suspension.
Build positive relationships with students facing barriers to attendance behavior or engagement.
Implement proactive and restorative interventions in response to attendance and discipline concerns.
Respond to discipline referrals and communicate student behavior concerns to administrators.
Accurately document discipline incidents and reconcile records with PowerSchool.
Participate in data collection and reporting meetings related to student discipline.
Support Hazing Harassment and Bullying investigations including student interviews and written documentation.
Assist with building security and access control including front entrance coverage and visitor monitoring.
Respond to alarms and support safety drills and emergency procedures.
Maintain required documentation and reports and notify school officials of issues requiring attention.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Education: Bachelors degree required or an Associates degree with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience.
Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience preferably in a school or educational setting.
Required Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in the use of technology including email Microsoft Office Google Workspace and other standard computer applications.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact courteously clearly and effectively with students staff administrators families and community partners.
Ability to read interpret and follow written instructions correspondence and procedural documents.
Ability to clearly present information in both one-on-one and group settings.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new information procedures and systems.
Sound judgment professionalism discretion and decorum when working with students and staff.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced school environment.
Ability to remain calm under pressure manage stressful situations and resolve conflicts effectively.
EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS/TERMS:
- SALARY:This is a salaried position paidBi-Weekly
- SCHOOL YEAR:187 workdays (based on start date) 8 hours per day/40 hours per week
- BENEFITS:Benefits eligible on start date. 30 days to enroll in coverage from start Benefits!
- PAID TIME:Sick Time / Personal TimeAs per the Personal Service Manual.
