6:00 AM 2:00 PM
7:00 AM 3:00 PM
8:00 AM 4:00 PM
9:00 AM 5:00 PM
10:00 AM 6:00 PM
11:00 AM 7:00 PM
Weekends/Holidays: Occasional
Driving Distance: Approximately 340 miles from the hospital
Travel Pay: $1267.50 per week
Position Summary
The Donor Care Specialist I supports a comprehensive blood donor program by recruiting screening and caring for donors while ensuring safety quality and exceptional customer service. This role is essential in maintaining adequate blood supply levels to meet hospital and patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver excellent customer service in alignment with hospital standards for all donors patients and internal stakeholders
Perform donor eligibility screening in compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards
Conduct whole blood collections and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures
Support onsite donor center operations and offsite blood drives
Prepare label and process blood components and specimens for testing
Accurately document donor records including data entry and deferrals in accordance with quality and compliance standards
Assist with donor recruitment initiatives and outreach efforts
Perform daily inventory checks and restock donor care supplies as needed
Collect appropriate blood specimens from donors and patients
Maintain clean organized and sanitary workspaces to ensure safety
Maintain knowledge of departmental policies procedures safety protocols and emergency plans
Provide consistent service excellence to patients donors visitors and coworkers
Perform additional duties as assigned
Education Experience & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum 1 year of experience in a blood donor center or plasma center
Prior phlebotomy experience required
National phlebotomy certification or completion of an accredited phlebotomy program preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Proficiency with computers and laptop-based systems
Strong written verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work independently and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
